My Passion Fruit Pitch

My passion Project idea/pitch us to get an old surfboard and reshape and glass it into a brand new board. I just got an old board that has the nose snapped off but it is perfect length so I will start. First I will strip the fibreglass off the old board, then I will reshape it to the Proportion I want. I will then take it in to a glasser to get glassed because it is very dangerous to glass so it's better to get an expert to do it Here is a photo of the board I have. 

Blink Blog Term 3 week 2

The past week I have been starting Correspondents Math. I really enjoy it because it is quite hard and I like being challenged. I have been also working on making a mini surfboard with my bro Harrison. We finished the table you use for shaping the board.  I am reading a really cool book about kiwis in the first world war.

Maths:

I have been working on a site called BestMaths which challenges me a bit more than some other stuff. If you click on the link you will see there are a bunch of topics. The topics I have been working on this week is Scales,Tables and Graphs, Length and Capacity.

Writing:

My piece of writing I am currently working on is about tsunamis: What creates them, how to stay safe etc etc. My goal is figurative language which means to use metaphors and personification and more stuff to make my writing more exciting. If you want to see my writing so far here it is


Reading: Ok, Here is where it get's cool

The book I am currently reading is a book called My Brother's Secret by Dan Smith. It is a story about a German boy called Karl who is in Germany when WWII is raging on.  At first he Believes that he is on the right side, but then his Papa dies and leaves him and his older Brother Stefan to care for their Mother. They Join a rebellion to stop Hitler and save peoples Father's and Brother's  lives. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who likes stories about rebellious boys, war and Tragedy.

A beginners guide to the wonderful world of surfing

Hey guys, It's Ethan again. Today I am going to be teaching you about surfing. So let's go drop in on some cool facts about surfing. Surfing is a sport that involves a surfboard:
You take the board to the beach and catch waves and stand up. Here is How to Surf. Once you have watched the presentation read on. One of the greatest surfers of all time is Kelly Slater. He has won 11 world titles which gives him his title:
"King Kelly" He is like a god to us Groms.  Here are some of Kelly's key tips to be a Successful surfer:

Substitution

This week in maths I have ben working on substitution. Substitution in maths means replacing a number with a letter. Kinda of like in rugby, number 9 comes off and is replaced by number 21.
Here is some of the practice work I have been doing

2. Substitute the values given in the following formulae to find the value of the unknown variable. Make sure that the correct units are given.

• Be positive, don't say mean things like, i don't like how you did this or i can do better than that.
• If you can make a connection make one! e.g if Timmy wrote on a post on his blog and posted his story about breaking his arm and you read it you could say tell Timmy that once you broke your arm too!
• Have good grammar. People need to understand what you've written in your comment.
• Ask a question! People love being asked questions about their work so it would be great if you ask one

Today we are going to be looking at atributtion. Did you know that when you search up something on google images and take an image, you can get fined? This is because it is not your photo and you have to get permission from the owner of the photo. But there is another way that I am going to show you.

Go to google and search what you want to search e.g Pizza
See that settings in the top right corner? Click that

Next Click advanced search. It should take you to this page.

Go to the button that says usage rights. Click on it

It will give you some options click the bottom one that says free to use, share,modify even commercially. Then click advanced search and you can use any of the images!

Te Wera Camp of Epic Fun

Last week my class and I went to Te Wera camp for 3 days (Wednesday- Friday) We got to stay in cabins and it was fun but a bit spooky. Every year I go to Te Wera camp for a Type 1 diabetes family camp. When I was there It reminded me of when I was a little kid running around at camp. At camp we went eeling,kayaking, cooked on hobo stoves and lot's more. We also did archery, It was my first time using a bow and I loved it. I got 1 Bullseye.

Surfing In Whananaki Personal Voice Writing

It was massive, I could see the great big blue wall coming at me.It was like a tsunami.

I was shaking in the water, and it wasn’t cold. I paddled as hard as I could. As it caught me I stood up on my board and went along the wave face.

This was great! I couldn’t believe how awesome this was. I smiled and relaxed.

I was riding along and then suddenly…  WHAM! I went under and couldn’t do or see anything, all I saw was black. “Am I dead?” I thought. I struggled and fought the sea and then I could breathe! I gasped and breathed in the salty sea air.

I was lying in knee deep water and I was alive!

I stood up and grabbed my surfboard. I stumbled up the beach and collapsed.

If i could have any shop in the world i would have a healthy food truck. Why, you ask? Well, I love food. I love to eat food,cook food and even just look at food.

Another reason is because the world needs more healthy food and less unhealthy.

The food truck would be called Ethan’s Food Delights.

I would travel all over New Zealand and I would teach others about the importance of healthy eating.

I would serve everything homemade apart from my cheese and i would make the patties with bought mince.

I would have a portable garden on the roof with cucumber,tomato and lettuce.

My dream would be travel the world with my food truck and teaching others about healthy food.

Here is a day in the life of a me the food truck guy. T

he truck was roaring along the road at about 60 kph. I pulled over and opened the side up.

20 minutes later… “One beef burger please,” says a man to Ethan the food truck guy. (You know what? I’m just gonna call him Ethan (Aka me) ).

“Coming right up,” Ethan says. He gets the homemade bun and puts some cheese on then adds the patty and then lettuce,tomato and cucumber.

“Here you are sir,” says Ethan.

“Thank you very much,” Says the man and gives Ethan $3.50 to pay.

“Have a nice day,” Shouts Ethan.

2 hours and 27 orders later...

“One water and a salad please,” says a lady to Ethan.

“Sure thing,” says Ethan

He whipps up the salad in about 2 minutes and gives it to the lady with the water bottle. “Thank you,” Exclaims the lady and gives him $2.50.

Ethan grins, “i  have made about $100 dollars today,” He says quietly to himself as he closes up the truck for the day.

Great Things about Frankley School

Frankley school is an amazing school, it has great teachers, can identify kids talents and work on’s. We’re all friends here at frankley school, no one get’s left behind.

One of the best things at Frankley is collaborative learning, we get to choose what tasks we do in our learning, get to choose where we sit every time and classes join together e.g 10.11 67 te kakano (rm 1 & 2).

Another great thing about Frankley is the teachers. They are extremely nice and try and help you the best they can.

I love that we get to control our learning because when everyone does the same thing, it’s easy for some people but hard for others. We can choose the right level of learning for us.

Algebra

"Finally' I sigh in exhilaration. this week in maths we are learning algebra. One of the things i learnt about algebra is that whenever there's and algebra problem, it usually has a pattern you need to figure out. I've really enjoyed algebra and hope we keep doing it next week. Here's a photo of some of the work i'm doing.

Division with remainders BLINK Blog Post

This week for my maths I learnt more about division with remainders with Mrs Mca. Division with remainders is when you have a division problem  that can't be equally divided into what your dividing it by so you divide it by that number but you change it  when it can be divided evenly and you should have something left over which is the remainder. That should be whatever number you took off the number you're dividing. e.g  26+4= 6 r 2

+= Divided by
r= Remainder

The Power Of One Book Review

The power of one is a great story of a English/African boy who is brave,tough and believes. He proves that anyone can be anything and no matter what shape and what size, if you believe, your dreams will come true. This book has a lot of great messages in it.

My Carnival Craft

Over last week and this week Ethan Doell and I started making a model sail boat for out Carnival craft. We have a lot of steps we need to take. We have not yet finished it but are very close. Here are the steps to take. You can make your own boat if you like.
Step 1: Decide what to make
Step 2: Design/draw what your boats going to look like
Step 3: Find and decide what materials you are going to use
Step 4: Start cutting out your base of the boat.
Step 5: Cut the sides for your boat and glue them onto the body
Step 6: Put a bit of your material covering the front inside.
Step 7: Paint your boat whatever colour you want.
Step 8: Poke a skewer through the front bit and glue it in.
Step 9: Cut your sail out of fabric or baking paper and tie on to your mast.
Step 10: Cut a tiny strip of cardboard with a top so it cant fall  through the hole. Cut a small hole in the boat to put the strip of cardboard

My New Game Quick Write

Release Date:

My new game is called World of Tanks. It was created in October 1st -December 22nd 2013 and was released on 24th of January 2014.

The game objective: destroy the other team of tanks or stay in the flag/base circle for 100 seconds. You start with a tier I vehicle and you can earn credits in every battle.

Credits: With credits you can buy upgrades for your tanks and then eventually buy better and higher tier tanks. The highest tier of tank you can get is a tier X (for 10). If you destroy a tank you earn extra credits and if you win a battle you also get extra credits and experience.

Countries:

There are five different countries you can choose for a tank. You can get a german tank, an asian, a japanese, a U.S.A or and American tank.

How to play:

You start on a team of seven tanks of your tier or one tier higher or lower. To damage or destroy a tank you aim your turret at the enemy and then wait until the green dot circle is small and right on them and shoot. To shoot you double tap the bullet inside the circle on the side of your screen

Platforms: Xbox, PS4, Iphone, Ipad,Ipad or laptop.

Recommendations: I recommend this game for ages 8+ and anyone who loves war/shooting games. Good luck everyone!

My Calender art

  I Drew an all blacks jersey for my calendar art because I love the all blacks and I want to be an all black when I grow up. I put a lot of effort into it and I hope my mum and dad like it.
